adidas today unveiled a cutting edge, interactive video tour of the ‘Messi Gallery’, the pop-up exhibition in central Barcelona dedicated to the world’s best footballer, Leo Messi. The Messi Gallery has been open for the past month, but will continue to live on with Leo’s legion of fans around the world able to experience the gallery and get closer to their hero. Messi himself helped preview the experience with his own personal guided tour.

The interactive video experience is part of the wider ‘Team Messi’ campaign to mark the launch of the adidas Messi Collection of boots and apparel, including a signature adizero f50 Messi boot. ‘Team Messi’ celebrates the attributes, behaviour and values that make Leo the most admired and inspiring footballer in the world.

The new video tour of the Messi Gallery will be hosted exclusively on the ‘Team Messi’ Facebook page. The gallery features a host of iconic memorabilia and exhibits representing Leo Messi’s outstanding career, with each item fully interactive through the tour. As they are guided through the gallery, fans will be able to immerse themselves in key moments and campaigns from Leo’s career and explore exciting imagery, video content, in-depth facts and information, as well as links to buy their favourite Messi boots and apparel.
The gallery houses a series of impressive exhibits, most notably Messi’s four successive FIFA Ballon d’Or trophies from 2009 to 2012. Kit and official match balls from landmark games and tournaments are also displayed, alongside the catalogue of adidas boots that Messi has worn throughout his career. This includes the adizero f50 boot worn when Messi scored twice against Real Betis to break Gerd Muller’s 1972 record of 85 goals in a calendar year and the adidas TUNiT boot from the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final in Rome, which Messi famously kissed upon scoring.

Messi said; “I was honoured to be at the launch of this gallery featuring so many memories of my career. It is amazing to see everything brought together in one place and I hope my fans continue to enjoy the exhibition. I want to thank the fans for their daily support and adidas for helping me perform to my highest level.”

Other exhibits look at the adidas campaigns that Messi has previously starred in and launched. These include the 2011 launch of miCoach f50, the world’s first football ‘boot with a brain’, the 2012 miadidas campaign where fans of Leo Messi were given the unique opportunity to design a pair of adidas football boots for him to wear, as well as the latest 2013 launch of ‘Team Messi’ and the Messi Collection range of boots and apparel.

The ‘Team Messi’ campaign was launched through the release of a bold video which captures the guiding philosophy of how Messi plays football and articulated through a ‘Messi Mantra’. The campaign has also seen the launch of the Messi Gallery and a new, innovative Facebook experience. By joining ‘Team Messi’ on Facebook fans are able to star alongside the world’s best player in an interactive film personalised to the user through Facebook Connect.
Messi fans can also celebrate their hero and ‘play the Messi way’ through the Messi Collection range of boots and apparel, including a signature adizero f50 Messi boot.
